Sounds Good Man

I love Men. They opened for CSS at the House of Blues in Houston and almost stole the show. Almost. CSS came out with painted skeleton faces and held their own. I think it was bands with really short names night because the other opening band was EMA.

I was listening to La Liberación the day of the concert, and I think I like it better than Donkey. The La Liberación songs were very danceable live, if you can call what I do dancing, awkwardly moving around maybe.

Cue to a few days later, I listened to Donkey again, and I actually like it better than before. “Left Behind,” “Beautiful Song,” and “How I Became Paranoid” are a pretty solid trio. I heard "Beautiful Song" played on a record player sometime ago, and it was one of the reasons I was thinking about getting one.

Back at the show, it was too bad for the bands that few people showed up, but it was good for the fans that were there, especially short people like me who usually cannot see. It seems it is a hobby of tall people to stand right in front of me during concerts. A few people dressed up, and it definitely made it more fun for the boring folks like me who didn't. My cute friend did wear her cute little bunny ears.

Let’s talk about Lovefoxxx. I wouldn't say she butchers the English language, but she does like to knock it over its head now and then. It is part of her charm. It is also part of the charm of their first album. I think she said something about Ninfa's (yeah, i dunno) and something about not knowing what this Halloween holiday was all about but that they wanted to come out ready for it anyway. Hey, whatever. They made it a pretty fun Halloween.

Near the end of the show, lead singer of Men JD Samson crowd surfed, and it was a good thing the sparse crowd was ready for it. Pretty brave, but it turned out okay.

CSS did an encore, and the last song was picture-worthy because it was party time on the stage, but for some reason my pictures turned out all blurry. I think it was alcohol+dancing around+accidentally switching the settings because of the alcohol+dancing around. It must have been because they were headlining, but CSS in Houston definitely knocked the socks off of CSS in Austin.
